Forza Motorsport 6 is out now; for a full list of features this link will help.

We already know that Forza Motorsport 6 is coming later this year, and that the new Ford GT is the game's "cover car". Not much is known about the game currently but we should expect a lot of info to some our of E3 later this month.

While the lead platform is Xbox One, there is a small chance/rumour the game will come out on PC too; we'll have to wait on further updates on that one.

Something that was teased through the Japanese Xbox site (now removed).

"More than 450 cars"

"26 world-famous locales including Daytona, Rio, and more"

"2-player split-screen racing, 24-player races"

So far so good, let's see what E3 brings.

Turn 10 have made a deal with EA that allows them to include Porsche cars in Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Motorsport 6.

Bringing Porsche to Forza Horizon 2 is fantastic news for Xbox fans and, even better, it's just the start! The Forza Horizon 2 Porsche Expansion is the result of an agreement between Porsche, EA, and Xbox to bring the Porsche experience to all Xbox One players. In addition to the Forza Horizon 2 Porsche Expansion, this agreement also includes adding Porsche models to Forza Motorsport 6. We will have more details to share in the future on this integration.

http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/turn10_postst37756_Porsche-and-FM6--update--official-press-release.aspx

Hopefully 2 of the Forza 6 cars end up being the 919 LMP and 911 GTE.

It's not the first time. There was a Porsche expansion for F4, was there not?

I saw this earlier too, looks quite promising provided it doesn't handle like F5.

There was, it was a £20 pack with 30 cars. At least with this deal you get cars right out of the box however (hopefully).

Night racing and wet weather are in, but they're not dynamic and are restricted to certain tracks.

Oh, hello GT5.

Hah. They've been pulling that shit since Gran Turismo 3.

"Yeah we've got night racing and wet weather. Dynamic? Pfft, no, don't be silly. Yes it's only on one track. And with a limit of 4 cars instead of 6... But we have it."

Yeah that's a disappointment, the only negative thing I've found so far but a shame nonetheless.

{edit: On further reading Turn 10 have said they wanted to run at constant 1080p60, no matter what. Project CARS struggles to hit that on Xbox during heavy weather so while I'll miss the dynamic weather I can understand why they want to lock it.}

Tracklist is good and there are as many cars in the base game as there were in Forza 4. Need to learn more about the finer details but so far so good.

Club integration was removed after Forza Horizon but the Forza Racing Leagues feature sounds very promising.

Although they only showed the trailer during the E3 briefing, a ton of information went online after the embargo lifted.

Image

Some notables:

  • Rain and Night are in as we know, however they are not dynamic.
The game will run at a locked 1080p/60fps and dynamic conditions would kill that.
  • 24 car grids, both on and offline.
  • 26 circuit locations.
Notable additions are Brands Hatch, Watkins Glen and Daytona.
  • 450 cars.
No Porsches at launch but they will come in 2016.
  • The Top Gear Test Track and presenters are still in the game.
  • Career mode is semi-linear, rather than being a giant checklist like it was in Forza 4.
  • Forza Racing Leagues is the game's competitive multiplayer hub.
Drivers get rated depending on their performance, and then get matched up for future races depending on how fast/clean they are.
  • "Forza quicksand" is gone. There are extra tyre barriers in places where corner cutting would be a big deal.
  • Drivatars return, taking the base data from Forza 5 and Horizon 2 before developing further.
There is an option to help prevent the AI from being massively aggressive due to players who like to crash.
  • Tunes and paints from Forza 5 and Horizon 2 can be imported.
  • Forza Rewards gives you extra cars/credits when you start the game if you have made progress in Forza games as far back as Forza 3.
  • There's a bunch of pre-order/limited edition DLC (as expected).

Things sound good so far and I'm definitely interested in picking this up. Will have to wait for further previews/interviews to see if other features from older games return.

Menu screens (which will most likely be adjusted/changed before release).

Also, more info on the Top Gear integration:

  • The track returns, along with "Stig Challenges".
  • Hammond and May do some narration in the game, but as independent car personalities (there's a few from America as well) rather than Top Gear presenters. Clarkson's not in the game at all.

Some info on features that were in Forza 4 but not in Forza 5:
  • Searchable Custom Public Lobbies are no longer present.
  • Clubs are gone (replaced by Leagues).
  • Auction House is gone (too many problems with hackers and in-game economy balancing).
  • Gifting is not present, although you can still share created content via a storefront-like area.

If Leagues work out as well as I hope they do, then that's great and I won't mind the loss of searchable Custom Lobbies.

I do hope however that Private Lobbies will have enough settings options to make organised competitive racing worth doing. Forza 4 was great for this (despite not having proper Qualifying and a few other notables), as was GT6.

Indeed, very Driveclub. Although the sight of what looks to be a Maserati 4CL alone makes me want this game.

Hoping Xbone prices drop soon. I'd be insane to buy one just for Forza right now.

True, although a few good games are coming and Horizon 2 is pretty fun from what I heard.

Also, GAME have some pretty good trade-in deals going incase you have a 360 you no longer need.

Not as insane as buying a PS4 for GT7. Or even DriveClub.

Horizon 2 is plenty fun. Forza 6 will be a good game, it has to be with pCARS now out and F5 being absolute rubbish.

Also: 2013/4 V8's. Oh Mama!

What are the Private Lobby options like in Forza 5? Custom Public Lobbies won't be in 6 as Turn 10 is pushing its new matchmaking system.

Ah, to be honest I've not looked. It's just such a terrible game, it seems like a Forza port and it doesn't work.

The V8 Supercars *need* TC and ABS for them to be even near drivable. For those that raced with the V8 Australicars mod, it is so much better, trust me.

Hmmm...

Not sure if somebody is going for the minimum of ten posts to access the entire forum or we have a very clever spambot on our hands. One post out of those ten does stand out... ;)

And two are almost the same.

..anyway.

I'm not sure when the next announcement will come but there are 2 things I want to know about in the near future:

  • How will the Forza Leagues system work.
  • How easy will it be to find content created by specific users?

Forza 5 got rid of the Auction House, gifting, the Storefront and Custom Public Lobbies. Forza 6 is already confirmed to have similar. Also in order to find a design in Forza 5 you had to buy a car, get in it and then look up paints.

If the League racing works as I think it will then I don't mind losing CPLs as I did a lot of random lobby racing in Forza 4.

If the racing is good (as I expect it to be) it'll still be a good purchase, however if the right community tools aren't there that limits the long-term replayability. A few design decisions could easily change this from a 3 month game to a 3 year game for me.
