It's summer time, and the next time you feel like going for a visit to the beach, don't think Miami. Don't think Bondi, don't even think Brighton or Majorca. We've done worldwide, European, even Oceanic series, so while it might not be as illustrious as some more high-profile venues, have you ever thought about the Batlic Sea? Maybe check out some Finnish beaches, Swedish bays or Estonian coves?
...and while you're there.. how about some racing to keep the adrenaline up? As it so happens, a bunch of old Mercedes 190E seem to have found there way to North-Eastern Europe, and it would be utterly irresponsible not to make use of them, right?


The Cars

Seems like the other manufacturers from ye olde DTM weren't able to source some retro machinery, so this will be a single-make series featuring the 190E Evo 2 DTM. This also means we won't have to worry about both DLC costs and BoP - as such, the car will be run with all of its I4 engine's 370 horsies, running normal fuel and tyre consumption as well.

The vehicle, made by touring car modder Tommy78 (you'll remember the name from RRTCR4), is available via his own page as free content (direct link), and there is a further workshop package that will feature a quick fix to HUD rev meters, the sounds, suspension setup options and eventually, our livery pack.

The Circuits

With Chad on another adventure, the track list already made its rounds on Discord, but let's have some more detail: There'll be a total of 9 rounds across 6 nations border the Baltic Sea: Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Germany and Sweden!

The Competition

The season will consist of 9 rounds running on Sunday evenings, beginning on the 10th of July and ending on the 11th of December. Qualifying will be taken care of with an unrestricted 20 minute session that will determine the grid for the first of two 30min races, with the grid for the second one running a reverse grid from the R1 result, randomly chosen between 5 and 10 places.

As ever, trophies will be given out for the driver, team and newcomer title - and we'll keep our 15-grid scoring system, awarding precious, precious points down to 15th position for both races: 20-17-15-13-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1.

As announced recently, team ownership is not bound to being a pleb club member anymore so if you want to run your own team, there's nothing stopping you now - although we'll still appreciate everyone chipping in to cover our server costs, obviously :)

The Colours

Liveries will be mandatory again, of course - templates will be available on the FTP soon and elements marked as not to be changed are, I know, this is unexpected: Not to be changed.

Sponsorships are preferred to be unique or appropriate to you, as if you had sought the sponsorship for yourself - if you want it to look proper, keep in mind that DTM cars old and new often have a design very centred around a main sponsor with supporting sponsors taking a backseat. As ever, tobacco and firearm sponsorship is prohibited, and liveries are to contain nothing illegal, immoral or offensive (which we will have final say on).

Drivers running as a two-car team do not need to run the same livery while making them distinguishable if they do, e.g. via recoloured mirrors or the like. Any rookies are free to join the Realish Racing New Driver Programme if they wish, to avoid the hassle of setting up their own team or having to find a team mate.

Keep in mind these cars feature the new material shaders and while it's a bit complicated, it can be well worth it. This is not mandatory by any means though - in fact, a well-thought out 'classic' livery will still outshine all that chrome that one might put on a car just because it's there.

Once again, we're going to need to compile all liveries into a pack for everyone to download, so there's yet another livery deadline - July 7th, to be specific.

The Realish mod adjustment pack is now prepped over at the Steam Workshop
You will need to be friends with one of April, Arwyn, Campbell (once they accept the contrib invite) or myself - a horrible price I know, but please do subscribe over there, and hopefully Steam's content management will prevent the biggest rF2 messes from happening once we update it with liveries etc.
Remember you will still need to grab the base mod first though!


Adjustments
  • Bigger ride height adjustment range
  • HUD rev range adjustments
  • Sound rebalancing (thanks @Arwyn!)
  • Sample car added under the Realish category

Please remember to properly sign up and confirm your understanding of the rules - we will use that information to compile the livery pack and without a signup, you'll struggle to find a car for you. There will still be placeholder cars for impromptu entries, but no windows will be prepared for you etc.
