Realish Rally Chronicle Round 8 - Group A New Zealand

Postby camp_bell » 14 Jun 2021, 16:47

It's time for the final round of Realish Rally Chronicle and we're staying Down Under in the Group A cars. The title may have been wrapped up last time out, but the midfield is extremely close and a big result could catapault many drivers up the final standings.

You will need to join the Realish Racing Dirt Rally Club here to take part.

Cars: Group A
Location: Hawkes Bay, New Zealand
Stages: 6 (4 short, 2 long)
Conditions: Mixed
Start: 12/6/21 @ 01:00
End: 26/6/21 @ 00:59

(Note that due to DST, rallies now begin and end at 01:00 on Saturday UK time)

You will only have one run, however the stage order is below (full details of conditions, etc will be in game) and you don't need to do all six stages in one sitting.

Shakedown
Te Awanga Sprint Forward
Ocean Beach Sprint Reverse
Elsthorpe Sprint Forward
Short service area
Waimarama Sprint Reverse
Waimarama Point Reverse
Ocean Beach

Well, I went on to tinker with a setup for this and accidently started the rally instead of shaking down. Funny moment of realisation thinking 'This shakedown is longer than they usually are, aw shite...'

Ah man that sucks. I've been pretty paranoid of doing something similar before and accidentally starting the rally whilst underprepared. Thanks for giving the rest of us a chance though ;)
Not sure I've got the car to win, so could be a good chance for someone new on the top step!

Wanted a decent run after my disaster at Australia and mostly succeeded, even though I wasn't terribly fast. However, knocking out all but one of my lights before the final long night stage wasn't in the plan. Amazingly, I managed to tiptoe through the stage, right up until I fell off a bank at literally the final corner and got a 29 second reset penalty. At least I made it to the finish this time.

Ha! Yeah... not getting near any of those stage times. Pretty average run overall, with the costliest error coming toward the end of the first stage with a clip into a small bank and a spin. Otherwise it was a pretty clean run and I was surprised I managed to keep my concentration on those last two long stages. Might've been 15-20s faster overall without errors, so still not even close to the win.

I think @BlueSpearman has proven that even with no practice he can beat us.

As for me, I was level with him for the first 2 Stages (only within a second), but as usual I pushed too hard and it went downhill from there.

I won Stage 4 by 6 seconds though, happy with that

Best I'd driven all season but I was miles off the pace for some reason. By the final stage I lost my temper and parked it in a river.

A final win for @BlueSpearman to round out the season, and possibly the most dominant win of the season, over 90 seconds clear of the pack. @supernicebob and @lazaros18 rounded out the podium places and the ever-competitive midfield saw 4th and 7th separated by less than a minute.

Top 10
  1. @BlueSpearman 33:33.506
  2. @supernicebob +1:34.378
  3. @lazaros18 +1:52.487
  4. @sin_racing +2:23.007
  5. @carrot1401 +2:33.073
  6. @Sam Hill +2:39.625
  7. @PJTierney +3:15.290
  8. @camp_bell +4:00.401
  9. @WRC000 +6:26.820
  10. @Boovolari +6:35.707

Final championship standings are here. As mentioned in the feedback thread, there will be another Rally Championship season later this year and I hope everyone who competed this season will be up for that. For our rally-only members, you can join our Discord server, which is much more active than the forum these days, to keep up to date with the latest goings on.
