Realish Rally Chronicle Round 2 - H1 Greece

Postby camp_bell » 20 Mar 2021, 19:28

Καλώς Ήρθατε στον 2ο Γύρο του Χρονικού Ράλλυ της Realish! It's another tough rally across some rough gravel roads in old cars to finish the first part of the season.

You will need to join the Realish Racing Dirt Rally Club here to take part.

Cars: H1
Location: Argolis, Greece
Stages: 6 (4 short, 2 long)
Conditions: Mixed
Start: 20/3/21 @ 00:00
End: 2/4/21 @ 23:59

You will only have one run, however the stage order is below (full details of conditions, etc will be in game) and you don't need to do all six stages in one sitting.

Shakedown
Anodou Farmakas
Fourkéta Kourva
Ampelonas Ormi
Short service area
Ourea Spevsi
Abies Koiláda
Tsristra Théa

(Thanks @lazaros18 for providing the welcome message at the top of the post!)

DNF on Stage 1

Took no spares because I thought I could risk it for the extra speed, got a front puncture halfway through, couldn't climb the hill.

While I totally screwed up stage six I got super lucky on the fourth, which I feel was the best stage I've done in a long time:

Pretty good overall. I made a silly mistake into a tree and down a hill in stage 1, but that was offset by a lucky barrel roll where I nailed the landing in stage 5. I overhauled @Mosaegir so hopefully I'm not going to be beaten by a Citroen again!

5th at the moment though with a few fast people still to run. Hopefully it'll be enough for a point or two though.

My Greek curse is still alive and well and my turn to get hit with Codemasters-itis this time. 5 great stages but was missing a lot of gears so I went out to recalibrate the clutch and do a quick test in the DirtFish arena. When I loaded back in to do the last stage the whole front of the car was smashed in with steam pouring out of it and the thing could barely pull itself along in 4th gear.

Still a very decent run though and depending on how Bob and Lazaros get on I'm still in with a sniff of a podium hopefully.

Can we have a full on Grecian Mini championship, please?

Not sure what it is about these cars and these stages, but it's a pretty much perfect overlap for me. First three stages were largely spot on - not sure where that 3:19 came from on S2 as my previous best was mid-3:20s - though I did run very wide on the tricky square left that marks the the start of the uphill final sector of S3.

The second three stages went pretty well too, but I did almost chuck it away on the final stage. Carried a bit too much speed on a far from perfect line into a tightening 2-left and ran wide into the cliff face that spun me round and put my back wheels over the ledge. Fortunately didn't go over, but wasn't getting back onto the road either so had to take an 8s reset.

Looks like most people have got their runs in now. Shame that Mark G encountered that bug, but looks like I would have had him covered for pace even with that final stage error. Hopefully there are no more faster people to come and I can take the win. Now I need to rewire my brain for the upcoming monsters, and I think my goal will just be to make it to the end of the next few events.

My brain completely switched off in stage one and I slid into three ditches, each collecting a penalty. Came out of that 19th and gave it a few days before running the remaining stages - really chuffed to have climbed up to 10th by the finish, once again frustratingly close to the driver in front.

These Minis are a fucking blast. I would happily do the rest of the season in them :D

I can't actually remember doing my run so I'm more than happy with 5th. I probably should cut down on the drinking... :?

Congratulations @supernicebob, inflicting @BlueSpearman's first defeat since the start of last season and taking the lead of the championship doing so! @SereneLogic took another podium in 2nd, just 33 seconds off the lead. Could it be a genuine 3-way championship battle?

@sin_racing was a somewhat lonely 4th and @Sam Hill led a tight midfield group in 5th. RRC 1 champion @tonyandmargaret got points for 9th and @Boovolari bumped @Mosaegir's Citroen out of the points at the death by under 2 seconds!

  1. @supernicebob 31:04.092
  2. @SereneLogic +33.172
  3. @BlueSpearman +37.704
  4. @sin_racing +1:17.374
  5. @Sam Hill +2:05.256
  6. @carrot1401 +2:27.541
  7. @camp_bell +3:01.193
  8. @Editors18 +3:05.978
  9. @tonyandmargaret +3:14.698
  10. @Boovolari +3:15.850

Updated championship standings are available here.
