Haven't had a great week, especially sleep wise, and hadn't felt like practicing but realised I'd have to get my run in today. Therefore had to take it relatively easy as I was conscious of the high chance of having a high speed crash which could potentially be terminal.
This resulted in a fairly uninteresting run, with only the odd moment getting wheels caught in a ditch or taking a fortunate bounce off a bank. No major time losses or damage due to these incidents. I conceded a lot of time on S1 though, so after that it was all about slowly clawing it back and closing the gap to Mark S ahead. Absolutely no chance of gaining even a fraction of a second on Mark G though...
Having been 17s off 2nd after S1, I'd got it down to 10s after S4. S5 wasn't a great effort from me though, and the gap was back up to just under 14s with the final test of Kakaristo to go. Had a solid run on that last, long and wet stage to post a faster time than I'd managed in practice and taken what is currently the rally lead at the time of writing by almost 5 seconds to Mark S.
I'll comfortably drop to 2nd when Mark G completes his run, and then I suspect it will be up to PJ to see whether or not I slip another place down. Either way, pretty happy given the overall lack of practice. Not had much running at all on the Scottish stages so I'll certainly need to put in some more time if I'm to be competitive there next time out.
