High Speed Ring but more interesting

Also there’s a lot of tasty cones around there to drive over and knock around so this may be interesting

Circuit de Boers Stewarding Post

Image

Pit Entry: On the left after the final corner.
Pit Exit: On the left before the first corner. There is no blend line but please keep left on leaving the pits and announce pit exit.

Track Notes
The first corner is extremely fast. Beware of cars around you and don't move across the track unless you're sure it's clear. If you make contact through turn 1, you will have a big crash.

Know your braking point for turn 2 as your brakes will be cold off the start. Be prepared to brake earlier than you would normally if there are other cars around you.

Be careful through the tunnel as this is another fast corner and the walls are very close. Don't squeeze another car into the wall, obviously.

Track limits are the usual rule - two wheels within the white line at all times please. The exception is the tunnel where the whole track, including the blue painted run-off, is fair game (not that there's much space between the white lines and the walls anyway).

Event Notes
Be careful at the start. We've had a couple of start crashes this season because people weren't aware of other cars around them.

These are touring cars and as such are able to withstand minor contact, however, the guiding principle remains to avoid contact. In particular, if you gain a place as a result of making contact with another car, you must give the place back. As an example, this kind of move would not be acceptable. Please call it out and/or file an incident report if you see overtaking being done this way.

We will review lap 1 of each race as well as any incident reports. Please report incidents to @camp_bell or @Lemm314 on this forum or Discord by 19:00 UK time on Tuesday, 30th June 2020.

Fun battles in R1 and a tremendous battle with @Boovolari in R2 - then the Alfa failed and I was running 75% throttle in the last lap of R2 and the entirety of R3 :(
Still though, two point finishes after a week away from the PC is fair enough :)

Quali
Only 0.024 off @craighypheno. 14th and 13th.

Race 1
Made a good start and avoided the startline crash. I was up to about 9th but two people collided in the tunnel and I was just clipped by one of spinning cars and had a sizeable crash. I dropped to the back and my car was utterly ruined so I only recovered to 19th.

Race 2
Made another good start and I managed to hold on to the back of the points battle. Made a satisfying move on @Lemm314 then lunged past @jims709 a couple of laps later. My tyres had held up well and I started to catch @shaxberd's ailing car very quickly but just ran out of time. 9th

Race 3
Made yet another good start but @BlueSpearman moved across and I couldn't really use it, then I had a wobble under braking for turn 2 and lost some more places. After a brief battle with @ajokay I was a few seconds behind Jims but couldn't really catch him this time. A half spin towards the end put @KJP93 on my tail but I just held on to an unexpected 5th.

A pretty satisfying evening all told and a decent haul of points through staying out of trouble. I really enjoyed the track and the racing was better than I expected.

I cannot remember the last time I had three races in a night and all of them were stellar.

Quali: Both of my laps were very similar. P13 and P12.

Race 1: Got caught up in the mayhem on the opening lap, and lost a few spots as a result. Looked after my tyres better than others and worked my way back up the field. The highlight was the scrap with @ajokay. P10 and first point of the season.

Race 2: Had a tentative start and lost a few spots. Had a good scrap with @TheGwiiBird (or was that R3?) and eventually worked my way up to the battle over reverse grid pole. Didn't have the pace to catch Neil but engaged in a good battle with @Lemm314 over P13 and P14.

It was decided by this:

Image

0.0003 of a second!

Race 3: Got tapped round by @cosmo on the opening lap after I ran wide at T2. From there it was a recovery drive and avoiding errors from others ahead. Had a near code brown with Alex and Will F when they both had an incident. Caught and passed Josh for P8 in the closing stages.

Sadly, this doesn't count how I recovered about 22 places in two of the races :c

Race 2 was insanity, sadly I only got to enjoy that racing once. Track was pretty amazing for close battling! On to the next one.
